If you’ve been dealing with chronic pain, you’re not alone.

Back pain. Joint pain. Migraines. Sciatica.

It’s one of the top reasons people come to see us.

There’s a lot of conflicting information out there on what actually helps. So in this email, I want to share what works—from the Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective.

This approach has been helping people for thousands of years, and we’ve used it at Bodhi TCM to help thousands of Brevard County residents.

We know it works. 😊

What’s in this email:

• Why pain becomes chronic (and what stops healing)

• How acupuncture works to break the cycle

• 3 things you can do at home

• What we do at Bodhi to treat pain at the root

Why this matters:

In Chinese medicine, pain = stagnation.

That means circulation has been blocked—so healing can’t happen.

This often shows up as:

⚠️ Constant tightness in one area

⚠️ Sharp or throbbing pain that flares up

⚠️ Pain that gets worse with stress or overuse

⚠️ Old injuries that never fully healed

When your body is stuck in a pain cycle, it stops sending the right healing signals.

Acupuncture interrupts that pattern.

It helps by:

✅ Stimulating your nervous system

✅ Increasing blood and oxygen flow

✅ Calming inflammation

✅ Telling your body: it’s time to heal

Try this at home to support recovery:

1. Use heat, not ice

Apply a heating pad or warm compress for 15–20 minutes to the affected area.

Heat improves circulation and helps muscles relax.

Ice may feel numbing—but it can slow healing over time.

2. Move gently

Light walking, stretching, or mobility work keeps energy flowing.

Avoid complete rest unless it’s a fresh injury. Motion is medicine.

3. Breathe into itTake 2–3 minutes to inhale for 4 counts, exhale for 6.

This calms your nervous system and reduces pain signals

Bonus:

Massage the "Ah Shi" pointsThese are the tender or sore spots near the painful area.

Gently pressing and massaging these points for 1–2 minutes can improve local circulation and release stagnation.

What we do at Bodhi TCM:

At Bodhi, we take an integrated approach to pain relief.

We don’t just treat the symptoms—we treat the root cause.

Every treatment is tailored to your body’s needs.

We often combine:

Neuroacupuncture/ Electroacupuncture to restore nerve and muscle function

CBMT (Cellular BioModulation Therapy) to reduce inflammation and increase cellular energy

Cupping, gua sha, or tui na to release tension and improve flow

We also adjust your protocol each visit, based on how your body is responding.

When circulation improves:

✅ Pain fades

✅ Movement becomes easier

✅ Sleep improves

✅ Energy returns

✅ Healing happens

In health,

Dr. Andrea Izquierdo, L.Ac.
