One of the most common questions I get is:
How does acupuncture actually work?
Lets break it down simply.
When our body is out of balance: from stress, injury, or just daily life
It can get stuck in a cycle:
• Circulation slows down
• Healing chemicals stop releasing properly
• Inflammation builds up
And over time, that “stuck” state becomes the body’s new normal.
Acupuncture interrupts that cycle.
It stimulates the nervous system, improves circulation, reduces stagnation, and tells the body:
It’s time to reset.

What we do at Bodhi TCM:
To help your body know it’s time to reset, we have to send the right signal.
This signal is sent by using acupuncture point combinations, and it is different for everyone.
That’s the complicated part of acupuncture, there’s no one-size-fits-all. What works for one person may not work for another.
Every person has a different root cause, a different pattern, and a different healing path.
That’s why we don’t guess or use the same points on everyone. We personalize everything:
✅ Your treatment protocol
✅ The acupuncture points selected
✅ The tools we layer in (like electroacupuncture, CBMT (frequency therapy), Cupping, Gua Sha, supplements, etc.)
✅ The frequency and duration of care
We combine the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the precision of Neuroacupuncture, and the insights of modern science to give your body exactly what it needs to heal.
This is what makes acupuncture work
Real medicine, practiced the right way.
In health,
Dr. Andrea Izquierdo, L.Ac.

P.P.S: Here’s a photo of me during one of my internships at the 301 Hospital in Beijing, China - almost 10 years ago now.
I’ve been learning and practicing this medicine for a long time, and I still find it just as fascinating and powerful today as I did then.
Thanks for being here and staying curious.
