The soaking of the feet is a therapy that is widely used in China to promote health and supplement other TCM modalities. According to Chinese masters "The three yin meridians (Liver, Spleen and Kidney) start from the toes, and exterior coldness tends to invade from the soles; washing the feet before sleep helps to warm the yin meridians and expel the coldness."
Soaking the feet during each season brings forth different benefits to help your body get in balance with nature. During the summer it helps eliminate dampness, in the fall it nourishes the lungs and prevents colds, during winter it warms your body and in spring it promotes the vital force "Yang Qi" upward so that disease cannot enter.

Foot soaking is a very easy way of continuing treatment at home and really enjoyable! You will simply place hot water in a foot soaking tub, enough to cover your ankles, put two foot soak tea bags in it. Let the tea steep to a comfortable temperature. Soak your feet for 15 to 20 minutes until you break a slight sweat, dry them and raise your feet for another 15 to 30 minutes to rest or simply go to sleep. It is recommended to void cold or wind after soaking. Also avoid foot soaking an hour before or after eating. In case of excessive sweating or dizziness add cold water and that way the blood vessels will constrict and the sweating will stop.
